Description: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=sdmrt http://www.sdmrt.com/ This morning I attended the orientation meeting that the SDMRT offers to individuals who might consider signing on with their team. The effort requires a 10 year committment due to the high level of technical training and medical training required to perform the work that the rescue team performs. The SDMRT is a serious, hard core team even though their web site is poor. I hope to participate somewhat with the team in a support role and possibly acquire some of the low level training that I'm currently not getting but could use in my other volunteer work. I need to ramp up my medical certifications and qualifications, for example, and I could use training in life support hardware and such. |

NotSoOldHippy ::: Favorites 2007-10-27 16:14:53 I have no idea what that is. It's not on the original video. __________________________________________________
phenixwryter ::: Favorites 2007-10-27 16:15:36 I checked out their website-looks like some nice folks. What a cool patch they have. I saved it to my favs on my computer, so I'll check back every now and then. Let me know when you have a video up on their Utube account and I'll be proud to subscribe. LoL about you talking in a low voice-didn't want the old homeless guy butting in again, eh? ; D __________________________________________________
anmoose ::: Favorites 2007-10-27 17:50:49 A lot of small volunteer groups have poor, outdated websites, simply because no-one on the team has the knowledge. You could be a big benefit to them in that respect alone. Same goes for their UToob channel. Moosie __________________________________________________
beenpimped ::: Favorites 2007-10-27 22:22:48 Good work NSOH, I think your skills would be greatly appreciated there. Do you do a lot of web design on your own then? Very cool. __________________________________________________
lirpa69 ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 23:45:04 Their website does need a facelift! You'll have to let us see your work. =) __________________________________________________

Yeah, they have good equipment and it looks to me like they deserve the rescue patches they're eventually allowed to wear. }:-} No crazy homeless guy that day, no. Maybe he's off somewhere sleeping in a jail cell. __________________________________________________

Same goes for their UToob channel." If I understand correctly, the person who originally volunteered might have lost interest. Yeah, I want to do whatever I can since the group got called out 56 times last year so they really have an impact. __________________________________________________

I don't know if I would call what I do "design" but I'm at least capable of doing what they need, both in their private web pages as well as their public pages. The CrystalLake dot Name web site is the one that I maintain the most and it's used a lot. __________________________________________________
AngryNotSoOldHippy ::: Favorites 2007-10-29 14:00:07 "You'll have to let us see your work." Supposedly I wouldn't be allowed to start until January! I think I have to go through security clearance, background checks, credit checks, citizenship checks, and even a fake "polygraph" check -- the LA County Sheriff's Office wants people to believe that "lie detectors" actually work. }:-} __________________________________________________ |
