My partner has been in the U.S. military for the past 3 years and is currently serving in Iraq. His unit members know about his orientation and they support him. I think the young people of today's military are ahead of the old farts at the Pentagon on this issue.

Because Mr Big Shot General, I am just a lowly enlisted guy who has been on deployments where I had to take showers in tents and be totally nude inches away from a dozen or so other totally nude guys and I DONT WANT ANY HOMO IN THERE CHECKING ME OUT OR "ACCIDENTALLY" BUMPING INTO ME as we are moving about!! Is that clear?? Now as a general you had private tents and never had to deal with such conditions so you wouldn't know!!

Do gays in civilian companies have to LIVE with a couple hundred other guys in a camp in the middle of nowhere with a couple of shower tents with a common area about the size of a living room for dozens of nude guys sharing the same bathroom and sink areas totally nude? No, I didn't think so. I don't want to ever have to walk into the shower tent and see 2 gays going at it and that's why the policy is what it is.

What a courageous man. The horrible hypocrisy of accepting someone willing to lay down their life for their country yet rejecting them because of their sexual orientation is appalling. To dismiss skilled Arabic translators for same is criminal- it hurts our national security. There have always been & will always be gays in the military. Such blatant bigotry sickens me. The conservative gang didn't much like desegregation either.

How wimpish. You do already shower with gay soldiers who are forced to hide their orientation. Would you rather have a skilled trained dedicated gay soldier at your side or some punk only could only get in by lowering mental health & criminal standards to meet a recruiting goal?
