wotan20 ::: Favorites 2006-08-16 13:15:37 Sadly, the boy had some trouble with the high notes, (maybe too unrealisticly high, or a bad day?) __________________________________________________
garjogo ::: Favorites 2006-08-18 13:04:06 I have not seen any trouble with the high notes, they sing very weeeeeeeell! I love this song :D __________________________________________________
wotan20 ::: Favorites 2006-08-18 14:09:50 Thanks. Both sing admireably. I think, I should've been more specific. The boy starts beautifuly in his comfortable mid-high range. I felt some hesitation during his transition into his virtuoso ultra-high and a momentary loss of control. (slippage) That's between 0:32-0:40 sec. Now I'm aware, that he is already a very accomplished singer, as the first 30 seconds eloquently illustrate, but maybe these particular highs are no longer realistic to him? __________________________________________________
garjogo ::: Favorites 2006-08-19 05:37:23 maybe it's true and he is changing his voice __________________________________________________
soloist51180 ::: Favorites 2006-08-19 06:51:47 Have you guys heard the original version of this song? It's from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Requiem," and it was originally sung by Sarah Brightman, and a young boy by the name of Paul Miles-Kingston. What I don't undertstand is, why would he have the boy singing the soprano part, which was written for a woman, and not have him take the treble part, which was specifically written for a little boy??? __________________________________________________
sedapna ::: Favorites 2006-09-02 16:04:36 His timbre was at that time more suited to sing the soprano part. The girl had a thicker voice than Jean-Baptiste did, so she was cast to sing the boy part. The soprano part had to be high and really clear and piercing (in a good manner). __________________________________________________
frenchprincess24 ::: Favorites 2006-09-03 09:04:15 they both have really nice voices and they sing really WELL! __________________________________________________

antoniadorigny ::: Favorites 2006-10-15 08:09:58 Hey, you know, Jean-Baptiste Maunier (the boy) was just 13 years old ! And if they gave him the soprano part it's because he has the most high voice. And if he seems to have a little "slippage" moment to you, just go and see the "Pueri Concinite" video. "Pie Jesu" is just after his performance, it's a little normal he's a little tired, no? Well, maybe I'm too much defending him, sorry but i'm french and in France he's enourmosly famous and well, let's say I know him very much. __________________________________________________

wotan20 ::: Favorites 2006-10-15 10:37:34 antoniadorigny, I don't think you need to defend the sprawling French culture around here, which we all respect deeply. In the case of Jean-Baptiste Maunier his God blessed talent gives joy, not only to the French people, but to the rest of Humanity as well. What I tried to convey, is that in comparison to other flawless performances, there have some mistakes been made, large enough even to the untrained listener. __________________________________________________
wotan20 ::: Favorites 2006-10-15 10:39:30 I understand that human vocal is the most sensitive musical instrument and even the best professional singers have a bad day. Something like that must have happened with J-B M. Still, his voice is immensely enjoyable. __________________________________________________
antoniadorigny ::: Favorites 2006-10-16 03:45:00 Sorry, I think I might have been a little too rude with you, really sorry. Don't worry, I know there is no problem with respect with France or another country, here. It's just that, I knew yesterday that the song "Pie Jesu" was added in the show only a few hours before, so there wasn't a lot of "repetition" (sorry, I don't really know the english word ^^) In fact, I personally know Jb, and, well, you know.. When a friend of yours is a little "criticated" you just write what you think. __________________________________________________ |
